Geeta Iyengar Yoga European Teachers Convention 2009
Dr Geeta S. Iyengar taught her last European Teachers Convention in Cologne in 2009, certified Iyengar yoga teachers across Europe and the world gathered for five days in May for asana, pranayama, sutra chanting, and questions and answer.

Ten years later and in celebration for the centenary of Guruji’s birth, IYD saw the need for a book to document and preserve Geetaji’s , and by extension, Guruji’s teaching for posterity.
This book has been a dedicated and international effort of yoga teachers who doubled as transcribers, editors, project managers, graphic designers, and illustrators.
Most of the work has been done on a volunteer basis, everyone giving what they could for the realization of this book.Dr. Geeta S. Iyengar (1922-2018) was the eldest daughter of Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar and was a distinguished yoga teacher, Ayurvedic doctor, and author and was created for advancing yoga for women.
Her book Yoga: A Gem for Women gained international acclaim and she became the leading female exponent of Iyengar Yoga in the world, teaching classes and training teachers for over forty years. Since her retirements in 1984, with her brother Prashant S. Iyengar, she co-directed the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India.
