Today, many people are eager to move towards a plant-based diet for a host of health, ethical and environmental reasons, but is this a viable lifestyle choice for an active person? Brooke Francis (nee Donoghue) and Luuka Jones have discovered that through careful consideration and making more conscious choices around the food they eat, it is possible to be a plant-based high-performance athlete and perform on the world stage. Brooke, an Olympic silver medalist in Women's Double Sculls rowing and Luuka, an Olympic silver medalist in Canoe Slalom, together with performance sport nutritionist Christel Dunshea-Mooij, have created a collection of delicious plant-based recipes that ensure maximum performance and recovery in both training and competition. Alongside the recipes, Christel breaks down the needs of a plant-based diet relative to the work you are doing. This book features high-profile athletes including Alex Maloney and Marcus Daniel who share their tips on fueling for endurance, power, skill and team-based sports.
